This blog is about making a small building out of Light Earth.
I decided to have a go at a blog because friends have asked to see photos and progress reports, somewhere accessible.
The photo looks like it's just straw. But if you look closely, each strand of straw is covered in a thin film of mud. And it's flat, because the muddy straw was shoved between formwork and patted down a bit.
Is that what the walls will look like or will they be plastered over with mud? Did it stand up to the storms ok?
ReplyDeleteyay liz - keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet! Donna, the walls will have two layers of mud render (a rough layer and a smooth layer) and maybe a layer of mud paint if I'm keen. I did this to another small building and it stands up just fine to all sorts of mad weather. In a later post I'll show a small amount of storm damage to a wall of this building, and I'll repair it.
